Many things are much less orderly than we tend to believe. I have noticed the paulownia trees blooming, just a little, this fall. And some forsythia flowers. These are usually spring phenomena, though perhaps it is “normal” for them to produce a halfhearted late-season bloom in some years? Or all years? Neither of these plants is native to where I live. Though rhododendrons are, and I also remember those freakily blooming one fall when it was warm and dry. Their fuschia flowers coexisted with orange leaves.
